BACKSTORY
I purchased the No. 8 off of eBay, cleaned and replaced items with premium parts and services per the list below. The front knob is new and the back handle is the original. It weighs 8 lbs.-15 oz. and measures 3-1/8" wide x 23-13/16" long. Though the sole of the plane was machined flat, there are still pit marks per the attached images and no way impede the quality of the cut. It would have made sense to buy a Lie Nielsen looking at the investment but their hand planes intimidate me. I feel it's like walking into a pool hall with a custom pool cue; you better be damned good. The other reason is it was therapy. I bought seven hand planes on eBay and went through the same process with most of them. At the time I was ill and couldn't work in the shop except to sit at my bench and clean those planes.
